People ask us about the logo, and about our name. So to save you asking:

Why Lambda?

Well, it's a long story. In 1992, those of us who are now the Directors of Lambda Research and Consultancy Ltd were responsible for multi-million Euro European-funded project to provide public information and services to people in rural communities using the type of technology and approach which has now come to be called "e-government". The project was orginally called BARBARA (for some strange reason), but was later changed to LAMBDA - standing for Local Applications of Multimedia Broadband Developments and Applications. Wierd, or what?

Like Remington Razors, we liked the project so much, we bought the Company! So we called the company after the project. Usefully, LAMBDA is also the Greek letter which is used to refer to wavelength - one of the measurements associated with telecommunications - so there is a link, see.

Why the logo?

OK this is easier. The logo depicts an idyllic rural scene - the sun rising over the mountains and lochs of Scotland, with telecommunications providing the infrastrucuture on which the future economy of such areas will depend. Alternatively, it depicts the idyllic beauty of the Scottish Countryside, spoiled only by the intrusion of telecommunications lines and masts to ruin the view! Not to mention wind farms.
